Roblox New Moon Guide: How I Unlocked BDA (Demon Arts)

Updated: November 10, 2025  ·  Reading time: ~4 min

I’ve been grinding the New Moon playtest as a demon, and getting a BDA (Blood Demon Art) was the first real wall. The game doesn’t explain it, most servers are full of rumors, and a lot of people stall out.

Here’s exactly what worked for me, what probably matters, and how to fix the common “I did it all and still didn’t get it” issue.

TL;DR (what actually triggered it for me)

  • Reach ~500 ELO (from winning PvP matches).
  • Kill 10+ Slayers (ideally unique players wearing Slayer Corps uniforms; NPC kills didn’t seem to count reliably).
  • Rejoin the game once you’ve met the conditions.
  • On rejoin, my BDA unlocked automatically. The BDA bar became visible and I could flash it to show.

That’s the bare minimum I’d replicate if you want the fastest path.

What I did step-by-step

  1. Pushed ELO to 500.
I focused on winnable matchups and duo queue when possible. Losing streaks hit your time-to-500 hard—avoid ego-queuing into stacked squads.
  2. Hunted 10 different Slayers.
I went after player Slayers in and around villages and open paths, not just AFK spawn campers. I made a point to vary targets so they’d count as different people.
    • I did a few Slayer NPC kills early on, but I’m not confident they helped. Treat NPCs as bonus, not requirement.
  3. Participated in one demon win event.
I was in a server event the demons won. Unsure if it’s required, but I did have it when mine unlocked. Consider it a nice-to-have.
  4. Rejoined the game.
Nothing happened until I left and rejoined. After rejoining at ~500 ELO with 10 Slayer kills banked, my BDA unlocked.

What I pulled after unlock

  • I initially rolled Destructive Death—functioned mostly as enhanced punches for me at that time (no active moves I could trigger).
  • I also rolled Arrow at one point: your M1s get arrow properties; occasionally the arrow embedded and seemed to cause a mini-stun. No proper skill list in my build, but there’s a passive feel to it.
  • I allegedly pulled Heminesis (the “legendary” people talk about), but it didn’t activate—either not implemented in my build or bugged during the playtest.

Treat BDAs as partially implemented in the current playtest: some passives/visuals work, not every move is live.

Requirements checklist (replicable)

RequirementTargetNotes
ELO≥ 500From wins; streak management matters
Slayer kills≥ 10 playersMake them unique Slayers (player-controlled)
Event winOptionalI had 1 demon-side event win; might be irrelevant
RejoinYesHard-refreshes the unlock check

Troubleshooting

“I hit 500 ELO and killed 10 Slayers, but no BDA.”

  • Rejoin (full relog), then try another server.
  • Confirm they were players, not just NPCs.
  • Add a buffer: go 550–600 ELO and 12–15 Slayer player kills. Some conditions feel fuzzy in the playtest.
  • Try being intermediate demon (progress your demon tier if that’s exposed in your build).

“My BDA shows, but no moves work.”

  • Some BDAs are passive-only (for now). Check for effects on M1 chains, hit-stun add-ons, or visual tells (arrows embedding).
  • Expect missing actives in the playtest. Swap servers and retest; occasionally the skill script loads on a fresh instance.

“Arrow sometimes stuns, sometimes not.”

  • That’s consistent with how it behaved for me: conditional embedding into the target, not guaranteed. Tight timing or server tick might decide it.

“I rolled Heminesis/Legendary but nothing.”

  • Could be placeholder or not fully enabled yet. Keep the BDA (flex the bar), but don’t expect the full kit until a content push.

Practical tips for hitting 500 ELO fast

  • Play to your win-con, not montage clips. If your kit is better at kiting and punishing, don’t brawl in the center ring.
  • Dodge mirror sweats. Queue at off-peak or server-hop if you’re stuck into the same top duelers.
  • Use terrain resets to break combo flow and avoid being parried on predictable entries.
  • Track burst windows: most players burn their defensive early; punish the second overextension.

What to expect post-unlock

  • BDA bar visible and flashable.
  • Partial functionality depending on which BDA you rolled.
  • Expect balance and implementation churn during the playtest—what works today may shift after patches.
